Rodney Atkins - It's America

Rodney Atkins Announces Official Date For First Annual "These Are My People, This Is My Town" Charity Event

Sept. 1, 2009 (Nashville, TN) - A lot has changed in the last few years for country star Rodney Atkins, but one thing is for certain - Tennessee will always be home.  With that in mind Atkins is pleased to announce his "These Are My People, This is My Town" Charity Event taking placeThursday, October 8th at the Hooper Eblen Center in Cookeville, TN.   Joining Atkins for a fun night of music is famed singer and songwriter Phil Vassar.

Tickets are going fast for this event and are currently on sale through Hooper Eblen Center (www.ttusports.com) and will be $25 for the public and $15 for Tennessee Tech University students.  Proceeds from the event will go to two organizations very close to Atkins, Tennessee Tech University Athletics and The Mustard Seed Ranch. The concert is made possible by Averitt Express, Country Giant 94.7 FM, and Mike and Julie Yother.

Atkins attended Tennessee Tech and in 2007 earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  He's always been a supporter of the school and its athletics but feels this event will be a great way to show how much the University means to him.

As Celebrity Spokesperson for the National Adoption Council, another cause near and dear to Atkins is supporting childrens homes. Adopted as an infant from Holston Home for Children in East Tennessee, Atkins has spent the last few years speaking on behalf of the National Adoption Council and bringing awareness to the many facilities across the country that help place children in loving homes.  Mustard Seed Ranch, based in Cookeville, is a facility that has become known for their excellent quality and Atkins feels inclined to help in the hopes that they can continue their superior work for many, many years to come.

"I'm grateful to the people of the Upper Cumberland and am honored to be able to give back," states Atkins.  "We've had successful events in the past, but I look forward to giving students and supporters of these organizations a really fun, high-energy show. Everything we raise will go back to help kids at TTU and Mustard Seed Ranch and it gives me great pleasure to be part of it."  Rodney invites fans, friends and supporters of these charities for what is sure to be the first of many successful "These Are My People, This is My Town" Events. In the meantime he continues to tour the country headlining dates through the end of the year.  His latest release, It's Americahas given way to current radio smash "15 Minutes" and the chart-topping single, "It's America."For more information and updates visit www.rodneyatkins.com.
