GEORGE STRAIT PERFORMS FREE SHOW FOR THE TROOPS AT FORT CAMPBELL

Nashville, TN (June 10, 2004)-Country superstar and army veteran George Strait will do his part in saying thanks to the troops of the 101st Airborne Division by headlining a free concert for soldiers and their families. The concert, which takes place Saturday, June 19th, will be part of Fort Campbell's "Week of the Eagles" Celebration June 14-19.

This year's celebration is especially noteworthy as many of the division soldiers just recently returned from supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 2004 theme for the biennial celebration is "The Legacy Continues," honoring the proud history of the division and serving as a special tribute to former and current soldiers, their families, and the post's civilian neighbors.

The star-studded event will kick off immediately following the afternoon's air show. In addition to Strait as the headliner, there will be performances by Vince Gill, Lane Brody, Richard Marx, Collin Ray, and Dobie Gray, all of whom volunteered their time and talents to show their appreciation to the troops. This year's concert will be one of the largest ever held at Fort Campbell anticipating a crowd of 20,000 to 40,000 spectators.

Additional week long festivities include a softball tournament, toughest air assault soldier competition, boxing smoker, and a 10K/ 1 mile fun run and many more activities for soldiers and their families to participate in.

Strait is no stranger to the efforts of the troops. It was while he was in the army and stationed in Hawaii that he formed a band and began performing.
