MIRANDA LAMBERT RAISES $120,000 FOR HUMANE SOCIETY OF EAST TEXAS
Lambert and Friends Have a Doggone Good Time at 2nd Annual "Cause for the Paws" in Tyler, TX
Nashville, TN (June 1, 2009) On May 17th Miranda Lambert hosted her second annual "Cause for the Paws" event, benefiting the Humane Society of East Texas. Friends and supporters rallied together in what ultimately resulted in the largest fundraiser the country star has ever hosted! The event raised $120,000 and managed to top the earnings of last year.
"I can't express how much this year's 'Cause For the Paws' event touched me," stated Miranda. "The giving spirit of those who were at the event this year was truly inspiring. It means the world to me and to the animals of East Texas. I am excited to see the improvements that we will make at the shelter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I cannot wait to see everyone next year!"
Activities at Miranda Lambert's "Cause for the Paws" Wine Tasting Festival, which took place at Tyler's beautiful and serene Villa di Feliciata, included a silent and live auction, food and wine tasting, a Meet and Mingle VIP private cocktail party for sponsors of the event and a concert with Miranda, Blake Shelton, Kasey Musgraves and Adam Hood. Miranda's "bus buddy", Delilah, who is a Humane Society of East Texas alumnus, was also on hand.
"Just like last year, this event proved to be a huge success," states Executive Director of Humane Society of East Texas, Gayle Helms. "Everything was just perfect - from the performances, to the auction, to the weather and the gorgeous venue - it all came together and we brought great awareness to this cause and raised money to help make improvements to our shelter. None of this would have been possible without Miranda and her supporters."
Lambert, an animal lover and Lindale native, chose the Humane Society of East Texas as her charity and has been a supporter for several years. She is involved in many facets of helping abused, abandoned and neglected animals through Pawsabilites, the umbrella name which encompasses this charity event as wells at TAILS (Texoma Animal Improved Living Society), and RACE (Ran's Animal Care Express).
"After being blessed with my tour buddy Delilah from the shelter, I became even more convinced that the saying 'think globally, act locally' was a great motto for me," says Lambert.
This year's event was made possible in part by Dobbs & Tittle, P.C. (Tyler, TX) and many other supportive sponsors and volunteers.
Miranda is currently working on a new record, due out in September of 2009, but in the meantime hasn't slowed down one bit. Her newest single "Dead Flowers" from the forthcoming album is working its way up the charts. Lambert finds herself amongst great company as special guest on Kenny Chesney's Sun City Carnival Tour with dates scheduled through the summer.
