MIRANDA LAMBERT TAKES HOME COUNTRY MUSIC’S COVETED ALBUM OF THE YEAR AWARD.

NASHVILLE, TN - (May 20, 2008) – Miranda Lambert left Las Vegas after the 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Award Show with a decided victory. As winner of the prestigious Album of the Year Award for Crazy Ex- Girlfriend, she was shocked by the support of industry and peers.

In her acceptance speech Lambert said, "I was not expecting this at all. I'm sitting right behind Kenny Chesney, so I don't feel right taking this. But thank you so much to my fans and to the industry for accepting me being a little left of center. As a songwriter, I poured my heart and soul into this album. It's who I am, so thank you for appreciating it."

Lambert also performed a smoking hot version of her current single “Gunpowder & Lead” within the show. The single is currently in the Top 20 of both country charts.

With all the excitement Miranda accidentally forgot to thank two very important people – the producers of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. “I was looking out in the crowd for my producers, Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke.” commented Miranda. “Clearly I was lost in the moment since I didn’t realize they were standing on stage behind me!” Miranda more than made up for it by taking the two gentlemen and introducing them to everyone backstage and in the pressroom.

Two-time Grammy Nominee, Platinum Artist and now 2008 ACM Winner for Album of the Year – with this much artillery under her belt it’s no surprise singer/songwriter, Miranda Lambert, packs a pretty hard punch.

Miranda Lambert first exploded onto the country music scene in the summer of 2004 with the radio hit "Me and Charlie Talking" off her platinum debut Kerosene, which debuted at Number One on the country charts (only the sixth time a new artist entered in at the top), and went on to earn Lambert nominations for the CMA’s Horizon Award, the ACM’s Top New Female Vocalist Award and also a Grammy. In 2005, at the 40th Annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas, Lambert won the Cover Girl Fresh Face of Country Music Award. Lambert’s sophomore record, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, just like Kerosene before, debuted at #1 on the Nielsen SoundScan Country chart in May of 2007, and serves as a unanimous critics’ favorite. It graced nearly every 2007 year-end list including Rolling Stone, Blender, Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly and USA Today.
The 8th Annual Nashville Scene’s Country Music Critics’ Poll handed her a paramount victory including Artist of the Year, Best Songwriter, Best Album and Best Female Vocalist. Miranda is currently headlining a nationwide tour playing everything from clubs to major festivals.
