MIRANDA LAMBERT SCORES SECOND NUMBER ONE ALBUM WITH CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND DEBUT
Nashville, Tennessee (May 8, 2007) - It's 2 for 2 for Miranda Lambert
as the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter's latest release, Crazy
Ex-Girlfriend, debuted at #1 on the Nielsen SoundScan Country Chart and
#6 on the Top 200 Albums Chart with nearly 53,000 copies sold in the
first
week. The album also entered the country digital albums chart at #1.
The number one debut is the second for Lambert, with her
critically-acclaimed
and platinum-selling debut album Kerosene also hitting number one the
first week on the charts in 2005.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was called "One of the best country albums of 2007"
by USA Today and Miranda "one of country music's most promising young
stars"
by the New York Times. Her sophomore album received rave reviews from
The New York Times, Blender Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Entertainment
Weekly,
Associated Press, Slant Magazine, San Antonio Express News, Dallas
Morning News, Chicago Sun-Times, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Washington
Post, Boston
Globe, iTunes, Philadelphia Inquirer and many others! Check out what
people are saying about Miranda below...
"They don't make mainstream country records much
better than this."
- Philadelphia Inquirer
"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a stone keeper, an early contender for the
year's most enjoyable country album."
- Austin American-Statesman
"The album in its entirety is by far the most thorough work of any
album I have heard all year. If you like country and you don't get this
album, you
will be missing out immensely."
- The Daily Texan
"On the best country album so far this year, Lambert sounds as if
she
just might be woman enough to have taken Loretta Lynn's man -- and
volatile
enough to have shot him in his tracks the first time he hit her. Well,
maybe not the first. But the second, for sure."
- USA Today
"OK, she's got a temper, but we're still Crazy for Lambert's new
CD."
- Entertainment Weekly
"Her songs of female empowerment and small-town wild-child fun have
marked her as one of today's most promising country ingénues. This
dust-kicker's more like a superheroine."
- Los Angeles Times
"The uber-talented and feisty East Texas girl
makes me want to reuse
and revise critic Jon Landau's legendary line about Bruce Springsteen:
"I have
seen the future of country music, and its name is
Miranda
Lambert."
- Texas Music Magazine
"With Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Ms. Lambert daringly exposes all sides of
her creative personality, and every one of them is country to the core.
She's a
spitfire example of how Texas-bred music still deserves a place on the
national radar."
- Dallas Morning News
"[Crazy Ex-Girlfriend] is one of the best country albums this year.
And
people are just about to find that
out.
- Orange County Register
Lambert has an attitude; "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" shows she has the goods to back it up."
- Boston Globe
Miranda wrote or co-wrote eight of the eleven songs on the new disc,
and she called on some pretty high-profile writers to round out the
album. Patty
Griffin and Gillian Welch contributed their works to the collection,
and the closing song "Easy From Now On" was written by Carlene Carter
and Susanna
Clark and recorded by Emmylou Harris on her Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent
Town album in 1978. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was produced by Frank
Liddell and
Mike Wrucke.
Miranda is currently nominated for Academy of Country Music's Best
Female Vocalist and Best New Female Vocalist and will perform her hit
single
"Famous in a Small Town" on the ACM awards show May 15th in Las Vegas.
In addition, she is performing on The Tonight Show May 11th, appearing
on the
CBS Early Show May 14th and performing on The Late Late Show with Craig
Ferguson on May 14th. She will hit the road with Toby Keith this
summer
on his "Big Dog Daddy Tour " tour, beginning in late June.
