Blackbird Vineyards Announces The Debut Of The 2006 Martina McBride "Signature Series" Wine
GrammyTM Award-winning artist and renowned Napa vintner release an exclusive
Napa Valley Proprietary Red Wine this month
(NAPA VALLEY, CA; April 2009)--Napa Valley's acclaimed Blackbird Vineyards and GrammyTM Award-winning artist Martina McBride partner to create a "Signature Series" wine to coincide with McBride's 10th album release, "Shine," on March 24. Each bottle is adorned with McBride's stamped autograph, and is being exclusively offered to members of her fan community who are of legal drinking age.
"I have always been a fan of Martina's work and it's an honor to collaborate with her on the creation of her first signature wine," says Michael Polenske, Proprietor of Blackbird Vineyards. "We think it's quite fitting that she chose to work with Blackbird Vineyards to create this exclusive bottling due to our sharing of the Blackbird name--her Nashville recording studio is named Blackbird Studio and it is one of the country's premier recording facilities."
Hand-selected by McBride for its impressive Napa Valley vineyard sources and deft winemaking techniques, the "Signature Series" bottling is a harmonious blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grape varietals in this wine emerge from the Pritchard Hill region, located on the parched hills of the eastern margin of the Napa Valley. According to the Wine Spectator, this region produces "some of California's greatest" Cabernet Sauvignon wines. The Merlot is sourced from the Blackbird Vineyard, located in the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley. This region offers a perfect convergence of growing conditions and produces exceptional fruit coveted for its bright character and elegant charm.
The 2006 Martina McBride "Signature Series" Proprietary Red Wine reveals luscious aromas of wild raspberries, black cherry, cassis, and smoky cedar. On the palate, jammy fruit flavors blend with cocoa and forest floor notes. This multi-layered wine provides great texture and volume, displaying tight-grained tannins and a medium-long finish.
"I've been able to taste incredible wines while travelling the world on tour," says McBride. "I sampled Blackbird Vineyards' wines while on a trip to Napa Valley and loved them. I'm thrilled to collaborate with Blackbird on this inaugural Signature Series."
