GEORGE STRAIT TEAM ROPING CLASSIC ANNOUNCES
PRE-REGISTRATION DAYS AND TIMES
George Strait Team Roping Classic to Take Place on March 11 and 12 at the San
Antonio Rose Palace in TX
February 9, 2005 – Pre-registration for teams wishing to compete in the 2005 George Strait Team Roping Classic on March 11 and 12, will take place on Monday, Feb. 28 and Tuesday, March 1, from 5PM- 10PM CT. Teams may register by calling 210-698-9251. The cost per team is $600. Entry
fees must be paid, in cash only, by 9:45AM on Friday, March 11 at the San Antonio
Rose Palace located at 25665 Boerne Stage Road in San Antonio, TX. Each contestant
may compete on a maximum of three teams. All horses must be stalled in San Antonio
Rose Palace stalls. No portable stalls will be allowed. PRCA dress codes will
be in effect.
Tickets for the GSTRC Saturday, March 12 finals are already sold-out but some
Friday, March 11 tickets are still available for only $16 including shipping and
handling. They can be purchased online at www.gstrc.com, or charge-by-phone by calling #210-698-0791 - Monday through Friday from 9AM
– 5PM CT. Event-goers are strongly urged to order their tickets early as both
days of the roping usually sell out. The single day tickets are non-refundable
and may not be exchanged for another day.
Hosted by Country Superstar and avid team roper, George Strait, the GSTRC is
among the largest and most prestigious open ropings in the circuit and annually
plays host to the most accomplished names in the sport. Past money winners of
“The Strait” include, among others, Jake Barnes, Steve Northcutt, Allen Bach,
Matt Tyler, Steve Northcutt, Tyler Magnus, Turtle Powell, Kirt Jones and the team
of Rich Skelton and Speed Williams who broke the GSTRC record with a lightning
fast round of 3.69 seconds last year.
At the George Strait Team Roping Classic, the opening day’s fastest 50 teams
on two head are invited to return the next morning for the three-header non-progressive
finals. Prizes include two Chevy Silverado Trucks provided by Cavender Chevrolet
of Boerne, Texas, two Strait X-treme 3-horse slant trailers by Bruton, huge cash
purses, Twister saddles and Gist buckles.
In addition to these great prizes, the GSTRC is proud to welcome back H.E.B.
Food Stores and their “Red Wrapped Challenge” – a thrilling $15,000 per round
progressive contest that takes place during the finals. Ropers win the challenge
if they have the best time of the round on one of the steers with red wrapping
around their horns. Up to $60,000 could be available if there are no winners in
the first two rounds.
