greatest moments in the careers of some of the most talented
and well-known country music superstars in its new series,
CMT GREATEST MOMENTS. Kicking off the series of one-hour
episodes, CMT salutes the legendary George Strait by taking
a look at his greatest accomplishments, achievements and accolades. Exclusive
interviews, performances and videos tell the story of a long
and successful career in country music, CMT GREATEST MOMENTS:
GEORGE STRAIT premieres on Saturday, April 8 at 8:00 PM, ET/PT.
In a rare exclusive interview, Strait reveals his personal
stories on the moments that highlight a distinguished career. From
his first gig at a small club in San Marcos, TX to setting
attendance records at the Houston Astrodome, this one-hour
special takes an in-depth look at the career of a country music
icon. CMT salutes Strait’s lengthy string of hits,
from his first number one song, “Fool Hearted Memory,” in
early 1982, to his recent 52nd No. 1 hit, “She Let Herself
Go.”
The indisputable King of country music, Strait has
won over 40 major industry awards and along with his unprecedented
52 No. 1 hit singles, he leads the all-time Country Music Association
(CMA) award nominations with 73 and can boast 19 No. 1 country
albums. In 2003, Strait was inducted into the Texas Cowboy
Hall of Fame and in 2004, received the National Medal of the
Arts from President George W. Bush.
