Big State is getting even bigger, with new music additions
Luke Bryan, Chris Cagle, Blue Mother Tupelo, and Jerrod Niemann join the
lineup, which totals around 50 acts on five stages. Names include Tim McGraw, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lyle Lovett and
his Large Band, Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan, The Wreckers, Los
Lonely Boys, Jack Ingram, Robert Earl Keen, and more from Nashville, Texas,
and beyond. BMI, a sponsor of the event, will host a showcase stage of BMI
artists.
"I am beyond
excited to have the opportunity to play in Texas
alongside not only the biggest names in Texas
music but also in all of country music," said Georgia native Luke Bryan.
"I've always thought of Texas and Georgia as having some of the best music fans in
the world - being such music oriented states - so this is a great chance to be
able to play for the Texas
fans. It's going to be a blast for sure!"
Texas-native Chris
Cagle adds, "I'm Texas
bred! I grew up at events like this and I always dreamed of being on the stage.
This is a homecoming for me of sorts and the fact that these guys thought to
include us in the line-up means the world to me. I'm going to have most of my
family come up from the Houston
area and we're gonna make it a mini reunion. I can't freakin' wait!"
In addition to multiple music stages, fans will be treated
to real stock car racing on the 1.8 mile track, one of the biggest prize purse
BBQ Showdowns in the nation, a Roadhouse Sports Bar, the Little State kids
space, food from local favorites, plenty of cold beverages, and many more
highlights for music fans and their families. For those who want to hunker down
for the weekend, RV camping will be available.
The Big State Cup car racing feature is brought to the track
by the Richard Petty Racing Experience. Several races per day will happen to
further inject the fans with adrenaline--as if they will need any more after
hearing this bale of talent.
To reward early actors and true believers, a limited number
of $35 two-day passes were put on sale before any talent lineup was disclosed.
Show producer C3 Presents, architect of the Austin City Limits Music Festival
and Lollapalooza, put a collectible souvenir ticket in their paws, as well as Big State
t-shirts and other goodies as part of a fan appreciation package they received.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, the event's
beneficiary, plans to present programs, demos, and issue Texas park perks on-site.
Big State Festival sponsors include
Bud Light, Texas Department of Agriculture, BMI, Sweet Leaf Tea, Brown Cow, XM
Satellite Radio and 100.3 KILT.
